There is always 1 potions if you head 2 screen west from the dungeon entrance. I found the purple dungeon to be a good source of potions in the early game. This is related to #2 since pots will always respawn the same item, it is good to try and remember the location.

Remember the location of pots that drop hearts (and other items).

The only exception to this rule is the beads in your house.

If you break a pot and find a heart inside, they will always spawn the same thing when you reenter the area. Instead, rocks are the one who randomly spawn those and other items like bombs and arrows. Unlike The Legend of Zelda, cutting grass won't drop heart or money. If you are new to games in this genre or maybe stuck, I suggest reading this too.
